I enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and the friendly welcome from the staff. Everyone were very helpful and informative. The room I stayed in was comfortable. The manager Mr Nigel Bell and his staff made me feel at home.
Nigel could get a new Fax Machine ( Ha Ha)

Everything from the staff who were sooo friendly and helpful, yet still professional to the hotel accommodation, Everything was superb. Nothing was too much trouble. My husband retired on the day we went to Sampsons, hence the reason for the stay. He had been given a bottle of champagne and we had made a very makeshift wine cooler out of a bag of ice. We went to dinner and when we returned to our room, the bag had been replaced by a wine cooler and our plastic glasses by glass. They had also put a large candle on our balcony and left a card for my husband. Perfect. The food was superb, well cooked, presented and served and the room was clean, fresh and comnfortable. As you can guess we were totally thrilled with the weekend and wil return as soon as possible and have already recommended it to several friends.

Great rural setting, yet not far from Exeter, should you wish to go there. Friendly staff, though not all knew everything. We had a fantastic penthouse room which was quite expensive, but good value considering what we got. There are cheaper rooms available, but not always via this web site. Reasonable restaurant with nice atmosphere...
... but the restaurant used to be better I think.

The relaxed nature of the Hotel. Friendly, personable staff. Excellent evening meal.
I would have like a more upto date en suite facility. The room facilities could also be a bit more upto date.

A lovely relaxed atmosphere and setting and the food in the restaurant was superb! We had what they call the penthouse apartment, so had plenty of space and fantastic views but think some of the other rooms may be a bit small. The location was excellent for us as the orchid nursery we'd come to visit was nearby. And it was lovely to have a real Devon cream tea in the courtyard and talk to local dog walkers who'd stopped off for coffee.
Quite expensive as breakfast wasn't included and cost £42 for two nights for two of us but I'd only had tea and toast the first morning.
